2 teenagers in court over theft, unlawful entry

Two teenagers, Abdullahi Dauda, 19, and Bashiru Danni, 15, were arraigned on Monday before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court over alleged stealing and unlawful entry.

Police prosecutor Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi told the court the defendants committed the offence on June 3 at about noon at Lane 9, Ifesowapo Area, Bovas Junction, in Ado-Ekiti.

Adeniyi alleged that the defendants stole drinkers, feeders, galvanised nets, and feeding trays valued at N100,000 belonging to Falade-Daf Tayo.

He alleged that the defendants unlawfully entered the house of the complainant by jumping over the fence into the compound.

According to him, the offences contravened sections 302(1a) and 65 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.

The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.

Counsel to the defendants, Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to grant them bail with a promise that they would not jump bail.

The magistrate, Dolapo Babalogbon, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Aug. 2.
