The nine-time African champions will be making their 10th World Cup appearance in Australia and New Zealand.

Nigeria’s preparation for the global soccer fiesta had been marred by the war of words between head coach Randy Waldrum and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Despite that, the Super Falcons have been preparing hard for the competition in Brisbane, Australia.

Waldrum’s side thrashed the Australian side, Queensland Lions FC 8-1 in a test game on Saturday morning.

Reflecting on the team’s impressive performance, Payne said they are ready to face any opposition at the World Cup.

“We are on the same level as France and Australia, and we are very confident. With the players we have here, we are ready to fight,” Payne told NFF TV.

“We are growing and improving our system every day with every training. Step by step, we are getting ready for our first game against Canada.”
