He pointed out that this impulsive act was driven by his fear of being discovered by an individual who had flashed a torchlight in their direction. He clarified that his intention that night was not to commit murder but to steal the girl’s handbag and phone.

I wanted to just take the handbag and phone and then leave her unharmed, but she resisted. Because of the flashlight I saw pointed in our direction, I slammed her head on the fence and ran away with the handbag but I didn’t know she was already dead at that time.”
