The discovery was announced by the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during a meeting with the delegation of the Committee of Pro Chancellors of State Universities in Nigeria (COPSUN) in Abuja.

According to the details of the meeting published in the board’s bulletin, Oloyede also condemned the prevalent practice of illegal admissions in some universities across the country.

“Some ‘graduates’ had never entered the four walls of a university owing to the endemic corruption in the system, but the board had documented over 3,000 of such cases,” Oloyede said.

The JAMB Registrar further described the illegal admission of candidates into tertiary institutions as “an embarrassment and a disservice to the nation.”

This revelation comes as no surprise, as JAMB had earlier warned candidates to refrain from accepting admissions offered without full academi participation.

In December 2023, the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education had also ordered JAMB to present the list of tertiary institutions that had conducted irregular admissions
