Just In: Nwachukwu Alakwe warns: They managed success in 2015, but Tinubu isn’t Jonathan

In the interest of preserving Nigeria’s turn-by-turn presidency system, Mr. Nwachukwu Tobinson Alakwe, the former West Africa Coordinator of the former National Support for Jonathan/Sambo Presidency, reportedly stated in the Sun that it is not necessary for power to transfer to the North at this time.

He conceded that the political forces in the North were able to unite and overthrow previous President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, but he issued a warning: President Tinubu is a distinct political character who should not be taken lightly.

In order to maintain Nigeria’s development and stability, he called on the North to work with the South.

He made it clear that any effort to obstruct Tinubu’s anticipated eight-year term may jeopardise the country’s democracy and possibly spark a political crisis.

He stated, “It is not necessary for power to shift to the North at this time because they succeeded in 2015 when they banded together and defeated former President Goodluck Jonathan, but they should keep in mind that Tinubu is not Jonathan.

” Because Nigeria’s presidency is turn-by-turn, I anticipate the North holding on until the South completes their turn.

And any attempt to prevent Tinubu from serving his full eight-year term risks jeopardising Nigeria’s democracy. So, all hands must be on deck to propel Nigeria forward.

Any scheme by the North to prevent Tinubu from serving a second term is a plot against the South and may result in a political crisis.
