The closures have led to long lines at remaining open stations and rising fuel prices. In Ogun State, the situation is particularly dire, with motorists facing significant delays and high prices at the pump.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri, has urged Nigerians to remain calm and avoid participating in the planned protests, stressing that such actions could exacerbate the fuel scarcity. He emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the issues and called for constructive dialogue.

In Kwara State, however, fuel stations appear to be operating normally with no significant queues or price hikes.

Additionally, the House of Representatives has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the crude oil supply chain and the quality of imported petroleum products, aiming to ensure transparency and accountability in the sector.

This investigation will include laboratory tests and assessments of local refineries and regulatory agencies.
