FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ben Igweh, has issued a strong warning to potential protesters in the Federal Capital Territory, emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach to violent demonstrations. Igweh outlined the police stance on protests and the consequences of violent behavior.

You can protest as normal citizens.” He emphasized that peaceful demonstrations pose no issue for law enforcement.
However, the Commissioner expressed concern about the involvement of miscreants in previous protests, which had led to criminal activities. He recounted past incidents where protesters damaged vehicles and looted shops, actions that he stressed would not be tolerated.
Igweh issued a clear warning against any attempts to instigate violence during protests: “Because when you make any attempt to make it violent, we will be ready.
We will come out violently if you protest violently because nobody has monopoly of violence.
The Commissioner made it clear that law enforcement would respond decisively to protect public and private property.
If they go into the street and start damaging vehicles, we will resist them,” he stated, adding, “We cannot keep quiet. If the protest is peaceful, we don’t have any problem with it. What we are against is protest that is violent in nature.
