The NLC claims that armed security operatives, including police and DSS officers, invaded the building, arrested the security operative on duty, and ransacked the bookshop, carting away hundreds of books and publications.

The NLC describes the incident as a new low in security operations in Nigeria and a violation of democratic principles.

The labour union has directed its staff to stay away from the Labour House until it is certain that there are no incriminating materials or harmful substances dropped in their offices by the invading operatives.

The NLC demands an international inquiry into the invasion and the immediate withdrawal of the security agents from the premises.

It also demands the return of all books and materials carted away by the security operatives.

The NLC warns that if this harassment continues, it will not hesitate to call on its members to stay home until their safety and security are assured.

The labour union expresses concern about the deterioration of democratic principles in Nigeria and the bid to turn the country into a Police State.
