The victim, Abubakar Aliyu, was accused of stealing a phone handset belonging to one of the suspects while they were working at a construction site in Abuja.

According to a statement by the spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, Mansir Hassan, the suspects tied Aliyu’s hands, sealed his mouth, and buried him in a hole, leaving only his head exposed and covered with rags inside an abandoned building.

The horrifying act was discovered when a passerby heard the teenager coughing and rescued him.

The police reported that all parties involved, including the suspects and the victim, were laborers at the building construction site where Abdullahi’s phone, valued at N35,000, went missing.

Accused of the theft, the laborers decided that Aliyu’s daily wages would be used to replace the stolen phone.

Feeling wronged by this resolution, Aliyu left Abuja and returned home to Zaria. However, the AbdulKadir brothers tracked Aliyu to Zaria and located him on Saturday, August 10th, 2024.

They forcefully took him to an abandoned building, dug a hole, and buried him alive as a form of interrogation.

Thankfully, a passerby heard Aliyu’s distress and alerted authorities, leading to his rescue and the subsequent arrest of the suspects.

The suspects admitted to committing the act in an attempt to extract a confession regarding the stolen phone.
