The Acting Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, said the meeting resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen security cooperation and address mutual security challenges between Nigeria and Niger.

PRNigeria gathered that both countries recognized the need for sustained dialogue, collaboration, and strategic partnership in combating security threats, including the proliferation of small arms and light weapons.
During the meeting, Gusau noted that both countries reaffirmed their commitment to regional stability and security, with Nigeria reiterating its principle of good neighbourliness.
At the meeting, General Barmou expressed Niger’s readiness to resume active participation in security cooperation under the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).
