“The President has approved this project and will personally inaugurate the groundbreaking ceremony soon,” Dangiwa revealed, emphasizing the importance of the initiative in tackling Nigeria’s housing deficit.
He noted that this project represents a significant expansion following the earlier commencement of 500 housing units in Lambu, also located within Tofa LGA.
“The Renewed Hope housing scheme is a cornerstone of the Federal Government’s broader urban development strategy. This includes establishing model cities across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja,” he explained.

Dangiwa further disclosed that similar city projects are planned for Enugu, Nasarawa, Port Harcourt, Lagos, and Maiduguri, highlighting the nationwide impact of the scheme.
While the 500 units at Lambu are being financed through the ministry’s budget, Dangiwa mentioned that the more ambitious 1,500-unit development will be funded through a Public-Private Partnership, PPP.

“This innovative funding model ensures that private developers bring sufficient capital to the table, guaranteeing the uninterrupted progress of the project,” he stated.
The minister expressed confidence in the selected private developers, noting, “We have carefully chosen developers who have both the financial capability and technical expertise necessary to deliver a project of this scale. We are confident in their ability to provide high-quality housing units within the stipulated timeline.”
He also emphasized the broader benefits of the housing developments, stating that they will not only address Kano’s accommodation challenges but also create thousands of jobs for professionals and artisans, thereby boosting local economic growth.
However, after inspecting the ongoing work on the 500 housing units at Lambu, Dangiwa expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of construction.
He issued a stern warning to the contractor, saying, “We are not happy with the current level of work on-site. You should be much further along than you are now. If there is no significant progress by the time we inspect again next week, we will reassign the uncompleted portions of the project to another contractor.”
The minister also reminded the contractor of the December deadline, urging them to employ more workers to accelerate the project’s completion.
