“As the sponsor of the Lagos State Domestic Violence bill that culminated into the law in 2007 under the stewardship of his Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I want to take a moment to commend Governor Sanwo-Olu on his decision to dedicate the month of September to raising awareness on domestic and sexual violence in the State .
This initiative is vital in our ongoing efforts to combat domestic violence and support survivors in our communities. By designating a month for the awareness and enlightenment, we are not only highlighting the severity of this issue but also encouraging open conversations and education, including the sourcing of resources for those affected.
Mr Governor’s leadership in this endeavour demonstrates a strong commitment to fostering a safer environment for all individuals regardless of sex. It sends a strong signal that our state, being the centre of excellence, stands firmly against domestic and sexual violence, and is dedicated to supporting survivors and their families.
