The army revealed that the successful capture of Usman on September 11, 2024, was made possible through reliable intelligence. Upon his arrest, Usman confessed to being responsible for several deadly attacks in Plateau State.

Notably, he admitted to orchestrating the recent assault on Ganawuri village, which resulted in the deaths of four innocent people. He also confessed to involvement in a local kidnapping syndicate that had abducted two individuals.

In a separate operation, the troops responded swiftly to a kidnapping attempt in Kyaram village, located in Kanam Local Government Area. Their prompt action led to the successful rescue of two more victims.
