Marketers: They’re Importing dirty fuels, We’ve more than enough -Dangote Refinery

According to a report, three major oil marketers are set to receive shipments of about 141 million liters of imported petrol. This comes after the Nigerian government fully deregulated the downstream oil sector, allowing for more importation of fuel.

In response to the news, officials from Dangote and the Crude Oil Refiners Association of Nigeria expressed their concerns. They worry that importing fuel will increase the demand for U.S. dollars and lead to the entry of substandard gasoline into the market.

A source from the Dangote refinery labeled the imported petrol as “dirty” and “toxic,” insisting that there is enough high-quality petrol available locally.

According the source said, “These people (marketers) are importing dirty fuels that are toxic. They are importing substandard fuels and if allowed they will not stop importing such.
