It is on record that a judgement of the Federal High Court delivered on September 30, 2024, by the Honourable Justice Peter Lifu bars the Nigeria Police Force from participating in the local government election scheduled to be held in Rivers State on Saturday, October 5, 2024.
As a law-abiding institution, the Inspector General of Police instructed the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State to strictly adhere to this court order by refraining from any direct involvement in the election process.
The group also mentioned that despite Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Femi Falana’s assertion that he has written to the police authorities stating that an order has been filed against the judgment of the Federal High Court delivered on September 30, 2024, by the Honourable Justice Peter Lifu, the Nigeria police will adhere to the order of Honourable Justice Peter Lifu until they receive proper service regarding the order.
The Integrity Youth Alliance strongly disagrees with Governor Fubara’s sudden and baseless verbal attack, especially the serious allegations he wrongly made against the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and the entire Nigeria Police. We urge prudence and respect in pursuing personal political ambitions, the statement said.
