Musa explained that the trader had placed her cash, amounting to N2.3 million, in a sack while measuring the grains. However, when it was time to pay the sellers, the sack containing the money was nowhere to be found.

“She kept the money in a sack, and while she was measuring the grains, the sack with the money suddenly went missing,” Musa said.

Upon realizing the loss, Rukaiyyat collapsed, and it took the quick intervention of nearby traders to revive her. Witnesses reported that she wept uncontrollably, stating that the missing money was a loan she had obtained from Edo State to finance her business.

In a related incident on the same day, another woman in the market also experienced a loss when hoodlums stole her half bag of maize. The woman had rushed to sympathize with Rukaiyyat, only to find her own goods had been stolen.
