On September 20, 2024, operatives of the Ondo State Police Command, attached to the Odigbo Divisional Police Headquarters, acted swiftly on a complaint and arrested one Monday Chukwu, a 34-year-old resident of Akintola village in the Odigbo area of the state,” Oladipo said.

The commissioner detailed the incident, explaining that the argument that led to the stabbing stemmed from Kefa Ofando borrowing N2,000 from Chukwu. “Upon demanding repayment a few days later, an argument ensued, during which the suspect stabbed the victim in the neck with scissors,” he stated.

Crime scene experts recovered a pair of scissors from the location, while a medical professional confirmed that Kefa Ofando had died. The investigation is ongoing, and Chukwu is expected to face charges in court once it is concluded.

Oladipo emphasized the importance of avoiding violence and exercising restraint, especially in heated situations.

In a separate case, 16-year-old Precious Kolawole was apprehended for allegedly participating in the murder of Mrs. Adeniyi Iyabode, a well-known caterer and CEO of ‘Bola Country Kitchen.’ Precious was one of the domestic staff of the victim, who was killed shortly after celebrating her birthday.

According to Oladipo, Precious, along with two accomplices including Emmanuel Philip, withdrew N30,000 from the deceased’s account using her ATM card after the murder.

“Precious, who fled the community after the crime, was eventually arrested,” Oladipo noted. He added that Emmanuel, aged 17, confessed to their roles in the heinous act.

The first suspect, Precious Kolawole, claimed to have overheard Mrs. Adeniyi discussing a substantial deposit in her account and subsequently recruited Philip Emmanuel to assist in the murder,” he explained.

Investigations revealed that the victim suffered knife wounds inflicted by Philip and machete cuts from Precious, which resulted in her death. After the crime, they successfully withdrew N30,000 from her account.

The police commissioner highlighted the importance of safety measures, such as safeguarding personal information and installing security cameras, to prevent such crimes in the future.

Additionally, the police arrested Renan Niju of Lapepe, Bolorunduro, for suspected arson linked to a chieftaincy dispute in the community. “The suspect was caught attempting to revisit the complainant’s property at midnight days after the property was burned down,” Oladipo said.

Local vigilantes, in collaboration with the police, apprehended him before he could carry out any further acts of arson.

Upon his arrest, Niju was found with a lighter, a liquid suspected to be premium motor spirit (fuel), marijuana, a Nigerian flag, and a handcuff key. He will also face charges in court once investigations are complete.

Oladipo noted that while the motive behind Niju’s actions is still being investigated, the presence of such criminal elements in society necessitates heightened vigilance and security awareness. He urged community members to take proactive measures to protect their properties and ensure they are not left unattended.READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>
