The State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph O. Eribo, disclosed this on Monday during a briefing with journalists at the Command Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo, highlighting the Command’s achievements in combating crime.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Eribo explained that the gun factory was discovered based on credible information, and police operatives responded swiftly, storming the location and arresting one suspect, while others managed to escape.
Recovered items included seven newly made single-barrel guns, five newly made double-barrel guns, one special steel double-trigger pistol, one broken single-barrel gun, one trigger-handle walking stick knife, and several cut iron pipes used for constructing gun barrels.
Eribo said, “Based on credible information received by the Command, operatives raided a gun-making factory where firearms of various types were fabricated and sold to criminals.
“During the operation, one David Nse Emmanuel was arrested, while his father, Akpan Nse Emmanuel, and his brothers, who jointly run the business, fled.”
Eribo assured the public that efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
The police also arrested a suspected child trafficker, Promise Boniface, who had abducted five children from a single mother. The children were rescued unharmed and reunited with their parents.
The arrest followed a distress call received on 14 November 2024, at approximately 3:10 pm from a woman (name withheld) who reported that an unknown man had taken her five children on a motorcycle. The motorcycle used in the crime was also recovered.
