Edozie Njoku not our member, NRM founding chairman says Tokunbo2

Alhaji Saidu Dansadau, the National Founding Chairman of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), has raised an alarm over the recent claim made by one Edozie Njoku, who publicly presented himself as the National Chairman of the party through the media....CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING.>>

Recall that a few months after the Supreme Court delivered judgment removing Edozie Njoku as National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), it was the turn of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) to face the same leadership problem, as he claims the same.

Saidu Dansadau, while speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday in Abuja, remarked that Njoku was never a member of the party and couldn’t have attained the position of National Chairman weeks after failing to snatch the position of National Chairman of APGA, as decided by the Supreme Court.

He added that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in a letter to the party dated 10th January 2025, signed by the Acting Secretary to the Commission, Mallam Haliru Aminu, and addressed to the National Chairman of NRM, indicated that only the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) has the legitimate right to call for a party convention.

He pointed out that this is in accordance with the provision of Article 8.1.2 (a-c) of the party constitution, which stipulates that no convention should be entertained if called by any person other than the NEC of the party, contrary to what Edozie Njoku and others have proclaimed.

Consequently, the National Founding Chairman of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) has appealed to the National Assembly to urgently legislate laws that would help prosecute those who cause party leadership crises for selfish reasons.

“Until we have such laws in place, someone like Edozie Njoku will continue to perpetrate crises in several political parties that he was never a member of. But I can tell you that he has just come to our peaceful party to exhibit what he did at APGA, but was overpowered by the relevant party laws.

“The APGA-dismissed man was never a registered member of the NRM, and he can prove me wrong if he has done that. We have an online registration process, which begins with the purchase of a scratch card.

After that, one logs on online and registers, and the last time I checked, the man had not done that, and we do not have such a person in our membership revalidation registration.”

Putting the record straight, he said that the party’s National Chairman recently resigned but has no right to hand over to anyone without an NEC-approved convention monitored and certified by INEC.

The National Chairman has no right to impose anyone on us, and from the letter INEC wrote, it is clear that a new Chairman must emerge through a convention.

Meanwhile, Saidu Dansadau said he is using various media platforms to inform the general public that the former party Chairman has no right to impose anyone while stepping aside without passing through the provisions of the party constitution.

We will not condescend to that, and to make the matter worse, the man in question has been shopping for a party mandate by hook or crook.

“And I can also inform you that the party, because of the resignation of our party Chairman, has scheduled the 8th of February for the NEC meeting, where the date for the party’s National convention would likely be fixed.

I can tell you that the party is the one to beat in the 2027 general elections, and anyone who wishes to contest for the position of party Chairman should first of all register as a member and secondly purchase a nomination form,” he said.READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>
