Speaking at his residence in Sokoto on January 1, 2025, Bafarawa emphasized the necessity of empowering the younger generation to address the nation’s pressing challenges.

He urged the federal government to take decisive action, noting that Turji had issued an ultimatum demanding the release of his detained in-law and had already commenced attacks ahead of his stated deadline.
Bafarawa expressed concern over the displacement of entire communities near his hometown, Bafarawa, due to these attacks.
In his remarks, Bafarawa criticized politicians who have monopolized power since 1999, cycling through various positions without creating opportunities for younger leaders.
He stated, “Many leaders have been in politics since 1999, moving from Governor to Senator or from the House of Representatives to Governor. They should step aside and nurture the youth to take over leadership roles.”
He highlighted that with Nigeria’s population exceeding 200 million, it is imperative to allow others to contribute to the nation’s progress.
To further this objective, Bafarawa announced the establishment of the Northern Star Youth Empowerment Initiative, a non-governmental organization aimed at addressing socio-political challenges in Northern Nigeria.
As the pioneer chairman, he outlined the NGO’s goals, including tackling the high rate of out-of-school children and promoting youth development in the region.
