However, in a statement issued on Sunday, Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, dismissed the allegations as part of a deliberate effort to incite panic.

“The Rivers State Police Command is aware of a recent news report circulating across various online platforms, alleging a gun duel between conflicting political groups at the PDP Secretariat on Aba Road, Port Harcourt,” the statement read.

We wish to categorically inform the general public that this report is entirely false and misleading. At no point was such an incident reported to or witnessed by the Police.”

The police assured that personnel from the Rivers State Police Command were strategically deployed in key areas across the state, including the PDP Secretariat. After investigating the claims, officers confirmed that the report was a false alarm, likely instigated by mischief makers seeking to create confusion and panic.

“We remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the state, and we will continue to work tirelessly to maintain law and order while securing lives and property,” the statement continued. The police also issued a stern warning against individuals or groups spreading false information that could further destabilize the political atmosphere.

The Rivers State Police Command urged the public to disregard the unfounded rumors and rely on verified sources for accurate information. They also reassured residents of their vigilance and ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security throughout the state.
