They accused the EFCC of delaying action despite multiple petitions against El-Rufai.
The Kaduna State House of Assembly had earlier indicted El-Rufai and some top officials of his administration.
A report by the Assembly’s ad-hoc committee, submitted in June 2024, accused them of mismanaging N423 billion.
The report pointed to corruption in contract awards and loan management during El-Rufai’s tenure from 2015 to 2023.
Following this, another group, Kaduna Citizens Watch for Good Governance (KCWGG), submitted petitions to the EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), however, no arrests or investigations have been carried out.
The NCA expressed frustration over the lack of action, they compared El-Rufai’s case to that of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.
They noted that Bello was quickly pursued by the EFCC, despite not being indicted by his state’s Assembly.
The group said the delay in El-Rufai’s case showed bias in Nigeria’s legal system.
They accused the EFCC of protecting certain individuals while targeting others.
They warned that if the agency failed to act within 72 hours, they would mobilize protests.
They also threatened to raise awareness internationally about the issue.
“For the EFCC and ICPC to have closed their eyes and shut their ears against the indictments, petitions and cries of Kaduna people, only means they are in support of corruption in Nigeria and as such, shielding El-Rufai.”
“But the same EFCC has brazenly become blind, deaf and dumb over the El-Rufai issue, despite the indictment by the House of Assembly, and having received a series of petitions from various groups,” he said.
