According to her, the armed man forced her out of bed and ordered her to follow him outside, where several other heavily armed bandits were waiting. She was then led into the forest, joining other kidnapped victims who had also been abducted from nearby homes.
The woman described how the bandits operated with confidence and precision, moving swiftly as they ransacked houses and seized their victims under the cover of darkness.
“They had no fear. They moved from house to house, taking people. When they came into my house, I was scared. I begged them not to hurt me, but one of them hit me with his gun, telling me to keep quiet,” she recalled.
Throughout her time in captivity, the woman said she and the other abducted individuals were subjected to harsh conditions, including lack of food, clean water, and constant threats from their captors.
“We barely ate. They kept telling us that if our families didn’t pay the ransom, they would kill us. Every day was filled with fear,” she narrated.
After several days in captivity, the woman and other victims were eventually released following what is believed to be a ransom payment, although the exact details of their release remain undisclosed.
Security agencies have yet to confirm whether any arrests have been made in connection with the abduction. However, local authorities have assured residents that efforts are being intensified to apprehend those responsible and prevent future attacks.
The incident has once again heightened concerns over the rising wave of banditry in parts of the country, with residents calling on the government to strengthen security measures and protect lives and property.
As the woman attempts to recover from her traumatic experience, she expressed gratitude for being alive but appealed to the authorities to take decisive action against the bandits.
“We live in fear every day. We don’t know when they will come back. We need the government to help us and ensure our communities are safe,” she pleaded.
