In a press release endorsed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Toriah Olajide Felani, the organization emphasized that the rising wave of violence in multiple states suggests more than internal unrest—it appears to be fueled by foreign manipulation.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The NYF pointed to the presence of heavily armed militias in areas such as Zamfara, Benue, Kaduna, and Borno as indicative of a calculated effort to undermine Nigeria’s stability.
The Forum raised alarm over the growing complexity and sophistication of attacks, including alleged use of drone technology by non-state actors.
Felani stressed that unless immediate measures are implemented to strengthen border control and overhaul the nation’s defense systems, Nigeria could be on the brink of a deeper and more destructive crisis.
Highlighting recent clashes in Plateau, Edo, and parts of the North-West, the group argued that the current security turmoil cannot be dismissed as mere criminal behavior. Instead, it pointed to a systematic effort involving coordinated attacks with the intent to weaken national unity and governance.
Felani further claimed that militant groups originating from the Sahel—specifically Tuareg warriors, Berber elements, and other seasoned combatants—have crossed into Nigeria with clear missions and objectives. “These are not spur-of-the-moment assaults,” he noted. “They are tactical moves by foreign actors with a larger agenda.”
Hear him speak: “If this trend continues, banks will close, markets will shut down, and the economy will grind to a halt. Checkpoints will be manned by militias. Those dreaming of escape will be trapped behind barricades manned by lawless armed groups,” the NYF warned.”
