The former Reds captain is in shock talks to sign Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.

The former England international, who was recently appointed as Al-Ettifaq manager, is leading the Saudi Pro League club’s charge to sign the Liverpool captain.

French football journalist Marc Mechenoua reports that Gerrard has set his sights on Henderson and is keen on making the Reds captain one of his first signings as Al-Ettifaq boss.

The Saudi club have already approached the midfielder to discuss a transfer, with talks said to be underway.

L’Equipe, however, reports that the player’s decision about moving to the Middle East is yet to be known.

However, there are claims that Henderson’s proposed move to the Saudi Pro League is at an advanced stage, according to the newspaper.

Henderson, 33, is contracted to Liverpool until 2025, having renewed his deal in 2021.

Gerrard, though, is hopeful of using his relationship with Liverpool and the player, in particular, to get a deal across the line.
