He was told that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, while fighting corruption, suspended a cabinet minister, and there has been over 4,000 convictions by EFCC in 2024, and the recent forfeiture of a 725-unit housing estate which was recovered from Godwin Emefiele. When he was responding to this, he said that the matter indeed had significance—particularly to those he referred to as enemies.
According to him, the housing in question was said to belong to Emefiele, and he believed that Emefiele should have anticipated the consequences of his actions, especially when he changed the country’s currency at a time when Tinubu was preparing to contest the presidential election. He questioned whether Emefiele truly thought he could get away with such a move, asserting that what was happening now was simply payback time.
He claimed that Emefiele had been marked for retribution and that if Emefiele had been intelligent, he would have left the country immediately after Tinubu won the election. He stressed that Emefiele was in serious trouble and could not escape from the situation. In his view, Emefiele had not acted wisely by building over 700 housing units, and he challenged him to disclose the source of the funds used for the construction.
