Okechukwu was responding to claims by promoters of the yet-to-be-registered ADA that the South would have ruled Nigeria for 17 years by 2027, compared to the North’s 11 years.
He dismissed this claim as misleading and described it as a product of “conviction bias.” He insisted that the North had actually led the country for a longer cumulative period, both during military and civilian administrations.

He recalled that the imbalance in presidential leadership prompted the adoption of the rotation convention in 1999, which was supported by patriotic politicians and other stakeholders to promote equity and national unity.
