At least 100 people were killed in a violent confrontation in Zamfara state between fighters led by notorious bandit kingpin Bello Turji and the Zamfara Civilian Protection Guard. The clash, described as one of the bloodiest in recent times by local residents, occurred on Monday and further escalates the ongoing security challenges in the region.

A resident, Sa’idu Garba, told Punch that the CPG fighters, with support from the Borno State Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF), launched a surprise offensive on Turji’s camp in a daring move to capture the terror leader dead or alive.
