Dan Perry, a former regional editor of the Associated Press in the Middle East, believes Israel’s options are not as broad as some might assume. In an assessment, he said: “I don’t think Israel really has as much latitude as I sometimes hear from various commentators and questioners. Israel can’t completely violate the will of the US.”

Perry stressed that Israel’s military capability is deeply tied to American support. “Its Air Force, wouldn’t run the spare parts without the US. In a matter of weeks it can’t continue such a massively impactful operation without US acquiescence.”

His comments come as President Donald Trump reportedly told Israeli leaders to call off airstrikes just hours after a ceasefire was violated. Perry was convinced the U.S. had already played a key role behind the scenes: “Which is why I was convinced from the beginning that the US was at least tacitly involved and had given a green light.
