According to Iran International English, Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has issued a strong warning to European powers over any move to trigger the snapback mechanism under the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). According to him, Iran has made it clear that such an action would mark a grave misstep with serious diplomatic consequences.

Calling it “the greatest historical mistake,” Araghchi stressed that any European attempt to reinstate the United Nations (UN) sanctions through the JCPOA’s snapback clause would effectively dismantle Europe’s credibility as a negotiating partner.
