Akpabio lamented that there is hardly any state governor in Nigeria today that did not have issue with his predecessor, citing Senator Adams Oshiomole, Senator Adamu Ailero, adding that it is Ekiti State governor, Abiodun Oyebanji, who is yet to fight with his predecessor.

He commended Senator Michael Bamidele Opeyemi for his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the last 30 years, when he served him as a legislative aide when Tinubu was a Senator in 1992.

Akpabio stated this at the 60th birthday anniversary lecture and book presentation of Michael Opeyemi Bamidele in Abuja.

Bamidele is the Senate Leader of the 10th Senate.

The President of the Senate said, “The Governor of Ekiti State is a great example of what leadership should be, he has remained steadfast.

“As a governor, the moment you hand over power to your successor, he will turn on you, either his taste will change or his attitude, will change. There is no governor in Nigeria that has no problem with their predecessor, apart from the Ekiti governor.

“That is why we have to celebrate Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele for the kind of person he is.”

Meanwhile, the Senate Leader has disclosed that the much-anticipated ministerial list of President Tinubu will be received by the Senate in the next 48 hours.

Bamidele said, “President Tinubu told me this morning when he called to greet me on my birthday that he would not be able to come to the birthday lecture because of the communication he needed to submit the list to the Senate in the next 48 hours.
