The Nigeria Police, Abia State Command, has announced the arrest of two kidnapping suspects at Lekwesi Lokpanta, in Umunneochi LGA of the State.

A statement made available to newsmen in Umuahia by the Police Public Relations, PPRO, ASP Maureen Chioma Chinaka on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ken Onwuemelie, read,
“On 02/08/2023, at about 0800hrs, in furtherance of the search for the kidnappers terrorizing innocent citizens within Umunneochi and its environs, acting on credible intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer Isuochi and some operatives of Abia State Police Command moved into the bush at Lekwesi Lokpanta where two Kidnapping suspects namely: Abubakar Tukur ‘male’ and Ibrahim Sandari ‘male’ were arrested and three kidnapped victims rescued.”

The Police Command said the victims include: Ekene Ike ‘male’, Azubike Okorie ‘male’ and Oluebube Nwafor ‘male’, all from Egwueme in Enugu State.

“One of the arrested kidnapping suspects, Abubakar Tukur confirmed being a younger brother to Bona, another kidnapping suspect who is already in custody,” the statement added.

The police explained that investigations into matter were in progress.
