According to Vanguard news, While acknowledging the President’s effort to engage with the public, Dr. Ahmed believes the speech failed to fully capture the gravity of the situation faced by millions of Nigerians.

“The President’s speech did not sufficiently address the underlying issues that have led to widespread discontent…

These issues include not just the immediate economic pressures, such as the rising cost of fuel and food, but also deeper, systemic problems like insecurity and the lack of basic amenities in many parts of the country.”

Dr. Ahmed emphasized the importance of empathy in leadership, suggesting that the President’s speech could have been more effective with a deeper understanding of the daily struggles of ordinary Nigerians.

He pointed out that many people in rural areas and urban slums are living in increasingly dire conditions, with little hope for immediate relief.

“Leadership requires not just acknowledging problems but also offering tangible solutions…

The President’s speech did not provide a clear roadmap for addressing the economic and security challenges that have exacerbated the suffering of the populace.”

Dr. Ahmed stressed the importance of effective communication between the government and citizens, asserting that the President’s speech might not resonate with the public due to its lack of detail and actionable promises.

“If I were the president, I would have tried to empathise with those who find themselves in the situation…

Whatever his advisers are telling him, the situation in the country is very bad… A lot should have been said in that speech which were left unsaid.”
