In a twist that’s as entertaining as any Nollywood blockbuster, Chinedu Ikedieze, famously known as Aki from the ” Aki and Pawpaw” duo, has taken to TikTok to express his comedic despair over Arsenal’s lack of action in the January transfer window. In a video that’s as much a performance as it is a plea, Aki channels his inner football fan, complete with dramatic flair.
“Every morning, I wake up with hope in my heart, only to find Arsenal still window shopping like they’ve lost the keys to the market!” Aki lamented, his voice a blend of humor and mock frustration.
He pointed out, with a dash of humor, that while Manchester United and Manchester City are out there snapping up players like they’re in a football version of ” Supermarket Sweep,” Arsenal seems to be playing hide and seek with their chequebook. “My heart, oh my heart, it’s tender like suya meat, and Arsenal is playing with it!” he exclaimed, making fans chuckle across the globe.
Aki didn’t just stop at complaining; he offered a solution with a laugh, suggesting, “If you can’t find players overseas, just come to Nigeria! We have plenty of talent here. Maybe not for the first team, but for the bench warmers, we’ve got you covered!”
His TikTok rant has since gone viral, with fans and fellow Nollywood stars chiming in with their own humorous takes. Some suggested that maybe Arsenal was waiting for Aki and Pawpaw to come out of retirement to bolster the squad. Others jokingly offered to start a GoFundMe to help Arsenal buy a player, any player, before the window shuts.
As the transfer deadline looms, Aki’s video not only highlights the universal bond of football fandom
but also injects some much-needed humor into the often too-serious world of football transfers. Here’s hoping Arsenal takes a hint from Aki’s heartfelt comedy and makes some moves, or at least, gives him something to laugh about before the window closes.
