This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Amotekun State Commander, Brig.-Gen Bashir Adewinmbi, in Osogbo on Friday.

According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended on the premises of Ogidan Grammar School and Nawarudeen Grammar School, Oke-Baale, around 1:50 p.m on Wednesday.

Adewinmbi said the suspects, disguised as commercial motorcyclists, were captured following a tip-off from residents of the areas.

Upon interrogation, Adewinmbi stated that the suspects could not provide a satisfactory explanation for their presence on the schools’ premises during school hours.

He urged residents of the state to remain extra vigilant, cautioning that kidnappers are employing various tactics to ensnare their victims.

“They do this by masquerading as innocent individuals, yet they are notorious criminals,” he noted.

The Amotekun Commander added that the suspects have been transferred to the Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation and prosecution.

Adewinmbi urged the general public security awareness and promptly report any suspicious individuals to security agencies.

The state government had previously, on March 11, raised an alert based on an intelligence report indicating a plot by certain individuals to mobilize criminals with the aim of disrupting farming and school activities through kidnappings.
