In a statement from Abuja on Friday, Atiku urged the government to listen to the people’s demands and act with sincerity and urgency to address the protesters’ concerns, emphasizing that the nation cannot endure more unrest.

Atiku condemned the looting of property and police killings of innocent citizens. He highlighted that recent public protests are important for allowing citizens to express their dissatisfaction with government policies and advance the discussion on good governance.

Atiku called on the protesters to maintain their peaceful stance and encouraged more Nigerians to show solidarity with the #EndBadGovernance protest. “This is a pivotal moment for our collective voice to be heard, and it must be done with dignity and respect for the law,” he said.

He urged the police to handle protests more professionally, condemning the unnecessary killing of innocent citizens and the harassment of journalists. He stressed the need for security agencies to exercise restraint while maintaining law and order.

Atiku emphasized the need for security agencies to identify and isolate the minority elements resorting to violence and looting to ensure that the actions of a few do not tarnish the majority of peaceful protesters.
