According to a source who confirmed this to DAILY POST on Wednesday, the kidnappers took their victims to an unidentified location before getting in touch with their relatives and demanding N1.7 million.

The incident was confirmed on Wednesday by Andrew Ayande, the chairman of the Gwer West local government, who also noted that the neighbourhood had a history of crime.

According to him: “This incident happened yesterday (Tuesday). You know, we lost one prominent person around the place a day before yesterday (Monday), and they took the corpse home yesterday (Tuesday). The people (hoodlums) came as usual, as they have been doing, and they attacked the people in one of the vehicles.

“A policeman and two others were kidnapped around Ahume at about 4 pm. The vehicle the victims were in has been taken to Naka police station.”

Catherine Anene, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, did not return calls or respond to texts sent to her phone.
