Bandits, on Friday night, invaded Unguwar Dankali community in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing four people and injuring four others.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The village head of the area, Malam Sunusi Yusuf, said that the suspected bandits arrived at about 10:30 pm on Friday night in their numbers and started shooting sporadically in the air.
According to him, “The bandits succeeded in shooting eight people and abducted four others before the arrival of security operatives who engaged them in a gun duel.
“Out of the eight people shot, four persons died instantly, while four sustained different degrees of injuries.”
Due to the superior power of the security operatives, he explained that the bandits retreated into the bush and abducted four other people in the process.
Those killed by the suspected bandits, he said, are Dahiru Tsalha Wawo, Bashir Salisu, Umar Yahuza and Umar Bako, stressing that those who sustained injuries and are receiving treatments in the hospital are Abubakar Yahuza, Bala Shamaki, Aliyu Ahmed, and Abdullahi Mamuda.
The four abducted victims, he further explained were later intercepted by members of the vigilante group at the Jaji area of Igabi Local government Saturday morning and have been reunited with their families.
The village head stated that funeral prayers for the four victims who lost their lives were conducted and their remains were subsequently buried at Hayin Dogo, Unguwar Dankali cemetery according to Islamic rites.
Liman Alhaji Musa Tanko, the ward head of the area, said residents have been thrown into panic and serious grief as the spate of attacks have continued to increase within the vicinity.
He explained that it is not the first time the bandits were invading Unguwar Dankali and the same thing with the neighbouring Wusasa and Kuregu areas that have continuously been attacked by the bandits.
When contacted, the acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the incident.
He said that one suspect had been arrested and investigation was ongoing with the hope of arresting the remaining suspects.
