According to information in the media space, the bandits killed five policemen and three soldiers on September 12, 2024 at about 7am.

The bandits also carted away four firearms of these personnel.

The incident was brought to the attention of the Zamfara State Police Command by a Senior Police Officer simply identified as Kotorkoshi.

 

According to a Situation Report sighted by The Eagle Online, the security operatives fought gallantly before they ran out of bullets, giving the bandits the edge over them.

The SIT Rep said: “A group of armed bandits in their large numbers wielding sophisticated weapons, laid an ambush on military attached to Setraco Construction Company between Tazame and Yandoto highway in Kotorkoshi district of Bungudu Local Government Area while heading to the company site.

“On receipt of the report, a team of CTU personnel on pin down point at Tazame village responded to the distress call and also entered into the ambush.

“After a long exchange of fire, the team ran short of ammunition due to the bandits’ large number.

“Unfortunately, five police personnel (Four CTU and One PMF) Namely, AP. 335808 Inspector Murtala Ahmed, AP. 360880 Inspector Sani Abdullahi, AP. 360877 Inspector Akilu Isah, AP. 363748 Inspector Kabiru Halliru and F/No. 503744 Sergeant Junaidu Abubakar and three military personnel were shot dead by the bandits.

“Four of their serviceable rifles with breach number T06 07004055, AK-47 56-14861553, AK-47 56-2403214 and AK-47 13411 were carted away by the bandits.

“However, the Commissioner of Police led joint police tactical teams to the scene.

“The entire area was combed and searched, and corpses were recovered and evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Gusau for a post-mortem exam.
