According to Yusuf Tsafe, a stranded commuter in the area, the bandits established a roadblock at the Tazame area early on Thursday.

They were equipped with approximately 50 motorcycles, each carrying three individuals, and they abducted multiple travelers, remaining on the road for several hours.

Tsafe reported that the bandits began their operation at around 7 am and continued until at least 9 am.

Despite military efforts to resolve the situation, the road remains blocked, and no vehicles are allowed to pass.

Another commuter confirmed that the bandits have also blocked the Magazu-Kucheri Road, which connects Gusau to Funtua.

“They entered the road around 7 am, and till around 9am, they were still there, we just parked by the roadside waiting for the military to clear the road, we are seeing the bandits taking people inside the bush.

“The military guntruck moved to the area earlier, we were just hearing gunshots, but they are yet to open the road. Till now, no vehicle has been allowed to pass.”

This morning, bandits have blocked Magazu – Kucheri Road, which is the same road connecting Gusau to Funtua, as confirmed by another commuter to Channels Television.

“The military men asked us to stop because the bandits blocked the road, we are still waiting for them to clear the road,” the source said.

In the meantime, ASP Yazid Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, announced that additional troops, including officers from the Nigerian Police Mobile Squad, have been sent to clear the road.

The residents of Moriki town in the Zurmi Local Government Area of the state are living in fear as the deadline given to them by the notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, to pay a forced N30m fee has expired, according to a report by PUNCH Online.

However, in response to this situation, Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, referred to the bandit leader as mentally unstable and promised that the military would soon apprehend him.
