She said the bandits forced everyone into the bush, where several people were killed. She said she witnessed four people being murdered right in front of her, and she was next in line.
Mariam said when the bandits ordered her to lie down so they could slit her throat, she refused and ran for her life. She disclosed that one of the bandits chased her and managed to injure her face and leg with a knife, but she kept running and was fortunate enough to escape with her life.
In Mariam’s words: “We were 23 passengers heading to Jibia when we were waylaid and taken to the bush by some bandits. When they took us to the bush, several persons were killed.
