Despite receiving the lowest number of votes from the Southeast, totaling 2,187,599, Kalu emphasized Tinubu’s commitment to the region through various initiatives and appointments.
These include promoting the South-East Development Commission bill, advocating for the creation of an additional state, and addressing security challenges, notably calling for the release of Nnamdi Kanu.
Kalu acknowledged the support of governors, senators, representatives, and Ohanaeze Ndigbo in these efforts, highlighting the importance of unity for regional development.
He also pointed to recent appointments of South-East indigenes as evidence of Tinubu’s dedication to inclusivity.
Kalu called on the Southeast to support Tinubu’s leadership, stating that appreciating Tinubu’s contributions would lead to further advancements and benefits for the region.
He emphasized that the APC leadership in the National Assembly will continue to leverage legislative interventions for the development of the Southeast and the nation.
During an interview with The Cable, he remarked, “President Bola Tinubu has given Ndigbo more than the votes cast for him during the elections. It is presently left for us to repay him for his good works because when one shows appreciation, he gets more.”
