The approval was granted during a plenary session yesterday, presided over by Speaker Aondona Dajoh.
Governor Hyacinth Alia had earlier submitted a request for the supplementary budget, titled “Submission of 2024 Supplementary Budget Estimates of N6,644,778,900 for the Conduct of Local Government Elections in Fiscal Year 2024”.
The request, read on the Assembly floor by the Speaker, sought approval for the funds to be used in the October 5 council elections.
The lawmakers unanimously approved the supplementary budget.
Speaker Dajoh announced the approval, emphasising that it underscores Governor Alia administration’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and credible election process in Benue State.
