The state’s Commissioner of Police, Paul Odama, says the magnitude of the crimes is “worse than ritual killings.”
“This is beyond ritual—this is targeted murder and concealment tied to organ trade,” CP Odama told reporters in Ilorin. He detailed how Dr. Adeyemi admitted to killing Olanipekun Ifeoluwa by smashing her head and dumping her body in a bush, then disposing of another victim inside a cement-filled trash can at General Hospital, Kaiama.
One of the victims, Nafisat Halidu, a casual worker, was said to have been killed and concealed in the hospital’s storage room using industrial materials. Her remains, alongside those of an unknown woman, were exhumed during the investigation.
The CP added that the suspect had initially been arrested in Edo State before being transferred to Kwara for further investigation. “He also admitted to killing one Abubakar Malam Abubakar after sedating him,” he said.
Odama warned of a larger syndicate behind the murders, saying Dr. Adeyemi claimed he was recruited into organ harvesting by yet-to-be-identified figures. Among the recovered items were a Toyota Camry, wigs, veils, underwear, and multiple phones—all linked to the victims.
“We are not resting until every accomplice in this gruesome network is brought to justice,” Odama declared.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court soon as investigations continue.
