Kogbara expressed frustration with Fubara’s recent remarks suggesting he was uninterested in reclaiming his governorship, following his suspension amid a state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu on March 18, 2025. She criticized Fubara for seemingly disregarding the loyalty of his supporters, who rallied behind him during turbulent times. Kogbara called on the embattled governor to take decisive action—either by fiercely contesting for his position or formally resigning to clarify his stance for his supporters.

In her statement, she said, “I never wanted Fubara to be Governor in the first place but he was inflicted on us by his predecessor Wike of whom he has now quarreled. Some of us were gracious enough to say so he is the Governor now. When he was disgraced, we said to Wike and Tinubu do treat us and him like that”.

Her remarks highlight the ongoing political tensions in Rivers State, particularly the fallout between Fubara and Wike, and underscore her expectation for Fubara to demonstrate resilience or transparency in addressing the leadership crisis, ensuring his supporters are not left in uncertainty about his commitment to the state’s governance.
