A former Spokesman for the Labour Party (LP)’s Presidential Campaign Council, Kenneth Okonkwo, has denied betraying the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the 2023 election.
According to past reports, it was recalled that in July 2024, Okonkwo, a staunch supporter of Peter Obi during the last poll, parted ways with the former Anambra governor and dumped the Labour Party.

Giving reason for his resignation from the party, the actor cum politician expressed his disappointment with LP’s intra-party squabbles and Peter Obi’s failure to address it.
However, Okonkwo, during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme, said he was loyal and never consulted Peter Obi’s rivals during the poll, stressing that his former principal should tell the world how he betrayed him after leaving the party.
Okonkwo, who is now an active member of the coalition hoping to trounce President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 election, also denied obtaining money or a house from Peter Obi during the 2023 electioneering process.
He said, “When I worked for him, I never consulted any politician. I am making a public statement. I never talked to any political party. I was 100% loyal.
