According to Disu, BYC became part of organized gangs operating in both Anambra and Rivers states, where he was tasked with guarding kidnapped victims. Over time, he grew frustrated with his role and eventually, during a dispute over ransom money, he killed his gang leader and disposed of the body in a nearby river.
After killing the gang leader, Nnamdi stole two AK-47 rifles from the gang and fled to Port Harcourt. There, he joined a new armed robbery gang led by a criminal named Ogolo Promise.
In Disu’s words: “On a particular day after a kidnap and ransom was gotten, BYC got angry with the sharing formula. He killed his gang leader and threw the body into a nearby river.
