In a video posted by Trust TV, General Musa stated that it is the constitutional duty of every soldier to protect themselves, fellow officers, and the communities they serve. He warned that excuses like “we were not told to engage” should never come from trained personnel tasked with securing lives and property, especially in areas plagued by violence. According to him, bearing arms illegally is already a threat that warrants immediate military response.

According to him, “The challenges are those bearing arms. I want to use this medium to warn my own personnel. I’ve heard reasons—people mentioning that they said they were not told to attack criminals. I said no. Once a military man is deployed in any location, he’s duty bound to protect himself, to protect his colleague and to protect the community that he’s in. He doesn’t need any other issues.
