Chelsea are optimistic that Palmer can maintain and even improve his form of last season under new head coach Enzo Maresca.

The expectation is that wage rises for Cole Palmer, who is currently earning around £80,000-a-week, will stay private and no grand announcements, with #Chelsea looking to work with Palmer and his representatives rather than doing their business in public.

Palmer will not be among the group of players who fly to America on Monday for Chelsea’s pre-season tour, with the attacking midfielder not due to report back until next month.
