The attack took place on the Keana-Obosidoma road, about two kilometers from Keana town, according to Mr Amos Baba, a chieftain and resident of Keana.

Baba disclosed to newsmen that Shuaibu Epu, an Alago man, was allegedly stabbed by some rampaging youths while working on his farm, stating that Epu is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

He explained that during the attack, a pregnant Koro woman was raped by the assailants and is currently receiving treatment at the Dalhatu Arafat Specialist Hospital (DASH) in Lafia.

Baba commended the swift military intervention that prevented the crisis from escalating further.

In response to the incident, Mr Phillip Nongu, President of the Mzough U Tiv (MUT) Nasarawa State chapter, alleged that some Tiv youths seeking to make peace with the Alago youths over the attack were killed in a subsequent reprisal.

The two Tiv youths, John Iwar and Verior Vitalis Utime, were reportedly killed during the retaliation.

Nongu blamed the deaths on the military’s failure to restrain the irate Alago youths.

He called on both parties to lay down their arms, stating that violence hinders development and urging them to live in peace.
